Dot-to-Dot Number Tracing Activity

It’s important to remember that recognizing a number is not the same as being able to write it. It’s also not same as being able to count the number of items that number stands for. This exercise is an easy way for children to learn to write numbers and learn to count. Print out the following pages and have your child trace a number. When they finish tracing a number, help them count the ice cream cones aloud. Then turn over the page and ask them if they remember how to draw it without the dots.

Help them along if they find it difficult. That’s normal! For most children, it’s best to do only a few numbers at time. Because it’s short and easy, it can be also repeated in multiple sessions to reinforce their learning and memory for numbers and counting.
