Number recognition and counting are the foundational building blocks for developing foundational math skills in young children. Recognizing the written number “10” is not the same thing as being able to count 10 pennies. Both skills, number recognition and the understanding of quantity, are essential for future math success. We have developed a variety of activities and articles to support the teaching of these two skills.
